Frequently Asked Questions
ARE WEIGHTED BLANKETS HOT?
Heavy does not mean hot, when you choose a weighted blanket with breathable fabrics. Baloo uses soft, premium cotton, designed to be cool and breathable for year-round use in all climates. The weight comes from glass micro-beads which are not heat trapping.
We've heard from many customers, including those experiencing hot flashes and hot sleepers, that the blanket was not too hot and helped with better sleep.

WHICH BLANKET IS RIGHT FOR ME?
The general guide is to choose a blanket that's 8 to 12 percent of your body weight. If you fall in the middle of the range, there are a few factors to consider. Choose the 15 lb if you usually sleep on your side, or have joint pain, especially in your knees, hips, or back. Choose the 20 lb weight if you are a healthy adult who usually sleeps on their front or back.
The 12 lb Throw size/Twin blanket feels very similar in weight to the 15 lb blanket - due to its smaller size the weight is more concentrated on the body.
WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO CLEAN MY WEIGHTED BLANKET OR DUVET?
Our weighted blankets are safe for the washing machine and dryer. We recommend using cold water on the gentle cycle with whites only, and drying on low heat. The blankets will dry surprisingly quickly, so they don't need a long dryer cycle. For best results do not dry clean or iron.
Linen duvet covers are machine washable on cold and dryer safe. These premium 100% French linen duvets will become softer and softer with every wash.
Baloo guarantees the quality of each of our products—if you experience a problem due to materials or workmanship at any time in the life of the product, please contact us so we can repair or replace your purchase.
Our products are certified vegan through the Vegan Awareness Foundation.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OEKO-TEX AND ORGANIC CERTIFICATION?
Organic certification addresses how the raw materials for a fabric are grown. Oeko-Tex certification is an indication of how the fabric is processed, including things like dyes and finishes. Oeko-Tex textiles and fabrics are free of harmful chemicals and safe for human use.
Organic certification means that textile and fabric products are grown according to strict guidelines on the use of petroleum-based fertilizers, pesticides, and synthetic products.
To attain Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, the fabric has been tested and certified to be free from more than 100 substances known to be harmful to human health. The certification is voluntary, must be updated annually, and is conducted by independent third party laboratories. Oeko-Tex is a global standard measured the same way across all countries.
